I haven’t gotten a gift in a long time, so whoever wants to get me this (she makes a white version which is slightly more ballin’ but currently out of stock), I’d be so appreciative. And whoever wants to pay my ridiculously high hospital bill for breaking one of the most worthless bones in my body, be my guest. Only $650, what a steal!

Canidae Major

With one month left in the Piedmont, surprise is my baby tomato plants start to bear fruit. They got in the ground way too late and won’t have time to fully realize their potential. I’m trying to avoid the metaphor. As Osiris once said in more words, ’we all run on explosions’.

I remember my old friend Jon Feldman turned to me one evening at dusk,

“This is my favorite time of day. I’m going to start enjoying it more from now on.”

I took the same approach that day and from then on.  Sometimes I forget.

Yesterday was the longest day of the year and I revised my resume in the failing light.

Its hard to take risks with a pessimist.

June 3, 2009 · 3 Comments

I return Slutbanger to her original roots this weekend with the aid of an upgraded rental car and hopefully some companions. It seems that all things that once depended on me are now being cast away in some cathartic clockwork that I’ve engineered.

I planted tomato sprouts to their necks in this clay filled Carrboro soil. Rarely do I take on a task without the intention of changing my world view. Like watching Shawshank Redemption alone in the dark. Or crying without the aid of alcohol.

But fret not friends, yours truly will soon make his first digital capture in several years.

Let’s just hope those plants can breathe.

Addiction of concern.

May 17, 2009 · 2 Comments

I broke my foot power driving the lane and didn’t even call a foul. I did get pushed around in a wheelchair in the hospital with the reasoning that “I’ll never be dumb enough to do that again”. I think the reason I decided to take it to the ER is that it wasn’t my ankle but the middle of my foot with an odd lump sticking out of it. Ankles are expendable in basketball.

So I’ve been playing a lot of video games and wasting a lot of time, but I see this as an unplanned vacation. Final Fantasy Tactics is complete and the new Castlevania and in the process of getting an asswhooping. Its actually the most frustrating game on the planet and will most likely turn out being the most enjoyable to smash on the ground after winning.

Almost started school. I’m open for suggestions on areas of study. I need direction.

Auscultation through intuition.

April 5, 2009 · 1 Comment

Watched UNC handle with ease at Spice St. Brothers lookin’ sharp in all white like it was a Boyz II Men concert. Headed to Franklin St. for the masses. Jump over a tiny fire in the street with others. Someone did a push up over the fire. I burned my bandanna not because someone said it was Duke blue. Tried to get the chant “burn your cell phone” but my voice already gone. Fuse for dancing and actually killing it. Osiris battled his longer haired doppelganger and had to reaffirm that I did in fact serve the Keith lookalikey in a dance off who I later found out is Keith’s twin brother. Go double figure.

Didn’t feel old for a night.

Weakly Update.

March 27, 2009 · 4 Comments

Finished watching the Notorious B.I.G. movie. No big deal. Clearly biased and slighted against Tupac, but if you’re gonna make a Biggie movie, why wouldn’t it be. I started playing WoW and I think its a good thing. I’m on a ten day trial before I have to decide to spend near a $100 to continue. Its insanely addictive, mentally engaging, and drudgingly repetitive.  On the flip, it has saved me tons of money by not going out or engaging in any kind of social activity. Pros and cons.

Most of you know where I work, or at least my main job. There is a clean & bright initiative being rolled out with the best corporate talk I’ve seen in years. I found a primer for managers addressing team members reacting to change in different ways and I had to share it with you.

crying

Really, its just comforting to know that if my skeptic attitude toward change doesn’t get me anywhere and my efforts to sabotage fall through, I can always cry.

Get older.

March 18, 2009 · 1 Comment

So I’ve spent this night much like I’ve spent a majority of this past week: on the computer discovering.  I think its the new setup and the ease of use that allow me to spend countless and seemingly non-pointless hours on the internet. I hope that I’m discovering and idea-hoarding rather than brain cell bruising. It feels positive. Netflix instant is the for real tightness. I’ve been watching videos of people record music (Dan Deacon, Deerhunter, Jay-Z) and it inspired me to attempt more complex chord progressions on the guitar. I don’t think I’ve written a complete song ever but I will always hide behind the idea that nothing I create will ever “finish”.

That said, I’ve been downloading music like crazy and have spent most of the night working on a playlist called “FEELINGZ”. I will upload it if it ever gets “FINISHED”.

I’m ready to leave Chapel Hill. Who knew it was St. Patrick’s Day?

I’m getting into the sun.

Grand Funk Railroad has been blowing my mind lately. Thanks to Mattie Mark for the spark.

Anyways, I dropped a few bills and got a new setup. I think I mentioned last post that I was in need of a desktop setup for my laptop, well I deed it. I hid my laptop behind my monitor using a document holder and some #8 screws. Stole the idea from here. Let us hope that it makes me do more than post on this blog.

Periodic Measurements Of Infrequent Smiles

March 2, 2009 · 4 Comments

You know, this always happens.  I know the story.  Drink too much, wake up way too early on too little sleep and follow with the most productive day I’ll have in a while. And I’m not even mad that the snow fall was less than bangin’.

Why not start a productive day with whatever I want. Top Five movies at this point in time and I’m sure I’ll forget some, but the wonders of the internet will allow me to edit this later. I’m not going to put them in ranking order quite yet, or probably ever:

(Also, this list is not to be confused with ‘Movies I Would Watch Anytime’ and the forthcoming ‘Dealbreaker’ list)

  • Wet Hot American Summer
  • Amadeus
  • Iron Giant
  • Fellowship of The Ring
  • The Bourne Identity

Now that we got that out of the way, I’ll admit I’ve been on a bit of a creative block lately. A sphere would be easy to move but hard to stand on. Really, I have tons of ideas, just no motivation to express them nor passionate feelings on the best method to do so. I keep telling myself that I need to at least make myself a desk(space) so that I have a stationary command post from which to explode the world from. My room is in ruins at the moment and I do enjoy the freedom of my laptop, but a nice big screen and a mouse goes a long way. Maybe its because I have that at work but as I’m typing my brain pretty much concluded that’s wrong. The reason I get shit done at work is because subconsciously its awesome to create while getting paid for it, or at least productivity is rewarded in a sense.

On a side note, my team got destroyed in Cranium last night. Kind of. Really the other teams just did really well. The sun is coming up and I can’t wait. Maybe I should make a list of things to do today. That’s mostly boring to talk about now, so I guess I’ll update you later. This new Prefuse album sounds like he got jealous of Girl Talk. Oh and thank you Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools for giving me a call just now to let me know that schools are closed. It is 6:19 in the morning and I don’t need to know that.

I got a chance to visit Shaun the other weekend. It did me oh so much good. Besides the fact that I was almost to Charlottesville (where I assumed he lived and apparently there is also a 604 Center St.) I made it to Blacksburg without a hitch. My phone tried it’s best to die while I tried to memorize the directions it was giving me three turns ahead. I brought Rock Band, got tired of it faster than everyone else, saw some kids from high school, got lit up in Scrabble, destroyed the planet at Balderdash (or however its spelled but Kyler you know you’re gonna google it so don’t even front but I was correct to begin with), beat up Mind Trap, road an awesome bike, and got kicked of the German Club’s basketball court for apparently killin’ it too hard. Shaun is a best friend.

So what am I trying to listen to over and over at 6:30 in the morning? The first track from the new Akron/Family album “Everyone Is Guilty” of course. I’ve always felt (just now) that music sounds better with a hangover. But really is you’re going to listen to some music because I said so, find the song Faerie Dance by Plants & Animals. I’m listening to it for the first time recorded, but I was blown away by their performance I watched on pitchfork. I think this post is getting way out of hand lengthwise so I will just tell you that I watched Revolutionary Road on my laptop with headphones the other night. It was and currently is the only movie I’ve watched by myself all the way through in that manner and it got me. I seriously cried at the end but really I was ready to cry the whole time. Brilliantly acted and an emotional dropkick to the face. I can only thoroughly suggest you watch it alone.

Let’s save some of this energy and post more. The sun is coming up! Create, y’all!
